This week for reading, we read tumble and turn. We have been learning the focus sound le and the est, ing, and ed sounds in the book we look for the focus sound le.

I found it easy to find the words of the focus sounds like tumble and rumble.

I found it hard to read some of the words that have the le sound because I forgot the words in the book.

What I enjoyed most was learning the est, ing, and ed.

One point perspective

This week for Art we learned about one point perspective. It means when you look at scenes the things closer to you seem bigger. The things further away seem smaller.

We drew a bird´s-eye view of a skyscraper. The roof tops seemed bigger and the building seemed to get smaller going down to the point.

I found it hard to draw the shapes to make them big. It was also difficult to join the corners of the shapes to the dot. I used a ruler.

I found it easy to color the windows and the building.

I enjoyed creating my skyscraper. Here it is. my art

Tina at school

This week for reading, we read Tina at school. For the slides, we created a mini-movie. I did the mini-movie with Lego. It was hard to pick what I was doing but I got it. I chose the dancing and singing one, and made a stop-motion animation.

I liked my mini-people moving, it was funny.

Minecraft

For our inquiry learning, we have been learning about how our tupuna adapted as they settled into their new land after the Waka voyages.

We went into the Minecraft world in Nga Motu and explored the maunga. I learned the sounds like a,e, I, o, and u in the lessons and talked to the tupuna. My video is about explaining the Minecraft world.

It was interesting to learn how our tupuna adapted as they settled into their new land after the Waka voyages.

Rain is a Pain

This week for reading I read Rain is a Pain. The focus sound is ai. It was fun to learn the focus sound in words like wait, rain, pain, and complain

I used Explain Everything to create a picture of the focus sound words.

I found it easy to say and find the words with the focus sound.

I found it hard to change the size of the font but then I managed to.

What I enjoyed most was…creating the word picture.

Next time what I could do differently is maybe find more words with the focus sound that aren’t in the book.

Dipped in Mud

This week for reading we read Dipped in Mud. The Focus Sound is the suffix ed.

I found it easy to read the focus sound words in the book.

I created a DLO using Greenscreen and iMovie. I also edited the video to put in the music.

What I enjoyed most was making the video to help me practice my suffix ed.

I Miss Tina

This week we re-did the focus sounds from last term. I read I Miss Tina. I remembered the focus sounds well, so I think I am getting better with my reading.

For my follow-up activity I made a stop-motion animation using LEGO.

I found it easy to capture the picture.

I found it hard to move the person and to keep the iPad still.

What I enjoyed most was creating the Stop motion with LEGO it was fun.

school tree research

This week my class did shared reading we got into a group of two and went outside to learn about the native trees at our school and what birds feed from them.

I found it hard to name all of the trees so it was good working with a buddy to talk about it.

What I enjoyed most was learning about trees even though I did not know about trees.

When I found out the names of the trees it was interesting.

Be Brave

This week for reading, we have been learning the focus sound a-e.

I found it easy to sound out the a-e words like gazes and faces.

I found it hard to make my video.

What I enjoyed most was sounding the a-e words.
